UCLan course: BSc Fire Safety Management

Current job title: Fire Safety Advisor & Fire Instructor

Tell us about your job?
"I work in a small dedicated team that implements Fire Safety Strategies to new and renovated commercial, industrial and office buildings. Without my degree, I would have been seriously struggling to follow my ambitions in this line of work."

How did studying at UCLan help you to achieve this position?
"Whilst at university I was lucky enough to gain a City & Guilds Certificate in Industrial Fire Fighting, which was made available by UCLan and Lancashire Fire & Rescue. This was one course that I will never forget attending, as it gave me additional experience and I am sure that it was a big factor, along with my degree, in why I was offered my current position."

Has your degree had any impact on your life or employment?
"The company that I work for knew about the degree, knew about the University and knew what I had achieved, all from a good CV and a good interview.

More importantly, I am working in the career that I’ve wanted for a long time and I am happy!!!"
