Welcome to LSBU FoundationCampus
Guaranteed university accommodation
If you have accepted your offer of a place at FoundationCampus and are starting a course in September, you are guaranteed accommodation within a University residence, as long as you apply for accommodation before 31st July.
You’ll be living with other FoundationCampus students but will benefit from being accommodated within the LSBU student community.
All of the University’s residences are located within a 10-minute walk of the main Southwark Campus.

McLaren House is located on the University’s Southwark Campus, and is conveniently situated for the attractions of London’s South Bank.
The nearest underground station is Southwark (Jubilee Line), about five minutes’ walk, and Waterloo International Station is also only a few minutes away.
Accommodation within McLaren House is provided within cluster apartments, mostly accommodating eight residents. Residents within each apartment share a communal kitchen/dining area. Basic cleaning equipment, including a vacuum cleaner, is also provided.
All bedrooms provided at McLaren House are for single occupancy.
Other facilities include:
- rooms are en-suite (shower, hand basin and toilet)
- ‘pay as you talk’ telephone
- free access to the intranet and internet
- security locks and keys
- central lounge
- coin-operated laundry
- security: on call staff, night security and CCTV
- car parking (although this is limited and residents are recommended not to bring cars).
The cost of accommodation at McLaren House is £106 per week with a standard contract length of 39 weeks.
Fees are fully inclusive and cover the cost of hot water, heating and lighting. There are no hidden costs.
Basic possessions insurance is also included. The University doesn’t provide bed linen, towels, cooking utensils (pans etc), crockery or cutlery. There are many local shops where such items can be purchased.
In order to apply for on-campus accommodation you must first accept your FoundationCampus offer. We will then guide you through the application process.
We cannot guarantee on-campus accommodation for late applicants starting in September.
All late applications received are considered on a first-come first-served basis. You will be given information about this when you enrol.
If you are unsuccessful in your application the LSBU Accommodation Team can provide you with lists of suitable local accommodation and with details of temporary accommodation arrangements.
You will be given information about accommodation options when you accept your FoundationCampus place. On-campus accommodation does occasionally become available throughout the year, but cannot be guaranteed for late starters.
